Well it is official; Sony has stopped production of the SDDS sound system. Here is a link to their announcement.

One less thing to worry about.

I like Sony Pictures but am not very happy about the BMG part of them. This is interesting to me and might be for all you pc-minded people out there:

Sony is allowing lawyers to make technical decisions for them. Bad news. They have made many blunders lately thru BMG and now their very popular gaming server sites. Many lawsuits pending against them over the "malware" debacle they created and fumbled.

I find it funny that Sony states:"However, due to the quite significant decrease in demand for the installation
of decoders in theaters and our increased focus on digital cinema technologies"

Gee took them years to see the trend. Its not that demand is down for decoders overall, it's because no one wants SDDS in their theatre. And havent' for some time now. Most dealers stopped selling them long time ago because of the problems with them. Besides, most SDDS systems were installed in guess what, Sony owned theatres.

Sony might be in for some hard times. Things seem to have fallen apart a bit since they acquired MGM.

They still have playstation to fall back on to make up for The Fog, etc.
