Just thought I would let everyone know that Sony SPR has a neat Pink Panther policy trailer available free of charge. I ordered ours through thier website:
http://www.sonypicturesreleasing.com/PR-WEB/logIn.do The policy trailer features the Inspector (Steve Martin) sitting in a crowded auditorium when his cell phone goes off and ends with asking people to turn thier cell phones off/vibrate and no talking. The trialer runs 1 min and 15 secs and in my opinion can be used over and over even after the movie has come and gone since it doesn't specifically advertise the feature do out in Feb. -Jeremy |

This seems like a good idea but everyone here has cell phones, especially kids. The first thing they will do when they see that trailer is show off the pretty lights, make a call, or do whatever it is they do with it. Maybe when they see it multiple times it will finally kick in.
I find that adults are considerate but the kids are the problem with phones. How does everyone handle this? |

We tell them once to turn them off, if we see them during the movie using it and it's making ANY noise, out they go. The kids that is.
We actually have more trouble with people talking during the movie than with cell phones. |

I did a quick check last night after we added the trailers and in the 4 auditoriums I went in and observed people's reaction, I saw quite a few people take out thier cells and turn them off/vibrate (sort of that doh! factor). I have the trailer programed just before the feature so that I know a majority of the audience is present and most likely to be paying attention since the house lights have gone to full dim.

I'd like a trailer that has them being tasered if they use a cell phone. LOL
The lights from the phones bother me more than the talking or ringing because that can be <ahem> prevented. Keep us posted on the reactions you get, Kbird. |

I'm thinking this could (or should) be a trend. The film companies could provide us with policy trailers like this using their upcoming movies - similar to the Pink Panther one.
Kong roaring..but no sound comes out could have been used to show patrons to be quiet also. Although they could have just shown Kong's grosses for that effect. The possibilities are endless and would be refreshed frequently. And would hopefully remain free like trailers and this Sony policy trailer. Tom Cruise seeking out a cell phone to the MI theme. When a Stranger Calls...easy to imagine. Curious George never speaks - neither should moviegoers. Any other ideas? |

I liked the new Pink Panther trailers for Panda and Wall-E. I'm surprised that other film companies have not followed this example. I'd like to see a "no cell phone, no talking, etc" policy trailer attached to the beginning of each movie by the film company. They could be cute like Pink Panther or serious like a public service announcement from the films stars.
Yes, there are companies that sell policy trailers but why should we pay for them? If we lose business because of cell phones, etc, then the film company also loses money. |

Alas, we finally retired the the Pink Panther cell phone trailers. Overall they worked very well at reminding people to turn off (or at least put on vibrate) their cell phones. Did get a few complaints about the "suggestive look" Steve Martin gives when his cell starts to vibrate. Hopefully Sony or another studio will do something like this again.
