Went to a trade screening og Batman Begins and this is finally a Batman film for us hardcore fans. It is very close to the Frank Miller version. This film is "very" dark and is not ,in my opinion, not for young kids. There were a few young kids (4-8 yrs old) and it scared the you know what out of them.

How did Batman open for you? Our numbers were extremely disappointing for what is supposed to be the Number 2 movie of the summer. Is is just us?

I think the bat must still be in the cave because no one came to see it. Tuesdays numbers without Batman werer better than my Wed. with Batman.

I am ready to drop it already and move it to a my smallest screen.

It did poorly here as well but I never do well with a Wednesday opening. Wednesday is church night for alot of families and I think people in general think of going to the movies on the weekends rather than a Wednesday.

Don't give up on Batman just yet. The few people who did see it last night said it was great. But maybe the masses would rather see the old style Batman movies....

Several months ago when I loked at the summer schedule, I said this was not going to be a good summer for us. There are a few films in July that may do business but August through Thanksgiving look terrible. All I am hearing is how DVD sales are up and ticket sales are down. Well, maybe in 3 months when these DVD's hit the market, that will be down as well.

Didn't do too well Wednesday & Thursday, but so far tonight it has done very well. This might end up being a word of mouth flick, since a lot of people are thinking it is continuation of the '90s franchise.

Just read a report from NATO.
If you take out Passion of Christ, and add the fact there has been 7 fewer releases, BO is up 2% this year.
That's how it plays out in my town, if you take out Passion which did tremendous, I'm up 2% so far this year.
Dvd sales last quarter are down 7%.
Crap in= crap out

A lot of crap out there this year. It's ridiculous to compare years in this business because the product is different every year. There are so many factors that contribute to the differences. The media is honed in on DVD's. I hear more talk locally about the price of gas affecting what people do than DVD's.

Batman's a dud. Two weeks and out.
I think we all need to just go spend some time on the beach, it would be about as productive. Eek

Pretty much a dud for us too. I'm hoping though that since EVERYONE I've talked too has really liked it, that it will at least hold well (not holding my breath though).
