If you had to choose one to play, which would it be? Xmas with Kranks or Sponge Bob?

Spongebob over The Kranks in my opinion, although I may play both due to schedule changes.

I am going to skip The Incredibles to play Polar Express. Schools are preparing group shows for entire grades. Have you considered Polar Express?

Yep, that's the problem. I'm playing Incredibles, Polar, and leaning towards S Bob.
They will all play thru Thanksgiving.

Same here, schools and groups already calling for Polar. Although I think it looks like a dud, but hey, what do I know.

I think Incredibles ultimately will kick Polars butt.

For xmas, two are a must, Lemony and Fockers, don't know what to do on #3 screen yet.

I'm been intending for yrs to invent the portable blowup cinema auditorium, for the two or three times a year 3 screens really suck. Big Grin

I'm not so sure about Lemony. It looks too demented for the holidays. Fockers looks good but the name is awful. I will call it Meet the Parents 2.

I don't see why Oceans 12 is expected to be such a big hit. The first one was a dud for me.

Yes Groups are calling for Polar but they all want to come in Dec. I doubt it last that long. The pre-preview that was shown at showeast last year looked bad according to those I know who saw it. The incredibals poster is getting great reactions from people coming into the theatre so I expect that to do great.
Spongebob has a great potential but because you get so much of it on TV will people pay for it or wait for the DVD? Jimmy Neutron did great on its first movie but that was before it was on TV the next did nothing.
Maybe we should ask Santa for a present?

I haven't heard any hype but the teaser trailer makes it look like the comedy of the holidays to me. The cast is awesome and should make for some interesting parenting scenes. hehe

I just wish they had called it MEET THE PARENTS 2 because in alot of towns, people may be offended when they read or hear the word 'Focker'.

What about National Treasure or Spongebob? That is going to have to be my choice here and after seeing National Treasure I am not sure which way to go.

It depends on your demoraphics but I think Spongebob is a sure thing. National Treasure may be one of the 'losers' this holiday season in my opinion.

What about Alexander? We are probably going to have to choose between that and National Treasure and since we kinda tanked on Troy, I think National Treasure is the way for us to go.

Sponge Bob or Kranks will beat the sponges off of Alexander or National Treasure.
It would be no contest for me if the choices where SB or NT. SB would win hands down.
Nicholis Cage is a horrid choice for that type roll. Then again, he's a horrid choice for most rolls. Wink

I've still not decided between SB or Kranks.

For smaller markets, I would probably go with NT over Alexander. The "epics" of this sort, just don't perform in the smaller towns. Especially something by Oliver Stone. Eek

At 173min Alexander puts a bite on your schedule too.

I liked National Treasure. It was made with the same formula as Pirates but used everyday things as clues to the treasure. I am afaid that Spongebob won't last past 2 weeks if its not done right where NT has potential for return customers. On the other hand Spongebob was promoted by Paramount at showeast everyday with huge give aways at the trade show. No other film was promoted that heavy I just wish I would have seen it so I can choose better.

My rule of thumb for the holidays is you have to keep it light hearted fare, or it won't perform in the smaller markets.
I don't imagine theres many yucks in Alexander.

Well how did Polar do for everyone?

Jason did U stay with Polar instead of Incredibles? Incredibles has done incredible for us. Polar was good but not incredible.

We are going with Kranks over Spongebob but I wish I could add in National Treasure. After seeing all three and talking to the booker none of the three stand out like we had hoped.

My kids thought Spongebob was just OK. Both liked National Treasure better.

I'm playing Incredibles, Polar, and will open Sponge Friday.
Incredibles was up 12% 2nd wkend for me.
Polar was ok, but no big deal as I had predicted.

I hear the sneaks Saturday for Spongepants went over very, very well. Some thought it was better than Incredibles.

I wish I could throw Kranks in the mix, hard to bet against Tim Allen @ Thanksgiving.

Well the lastest from my booker is we are dumping Kranks in Favor of National Treasure. The traking numbers are apparently great since he already booked Kranks and had to call back and dump them for NT. He thought Spongebob was going to be bigger than huge at Showeast but then after he saw it he was not so hot on it.

Too early for Polar. No one wants sot see a Santa movie before Thanksgiving. It may grow but it will have to be in my smaller auditorium since it had its chance in the big one.

I gave in and played Incredibles and Polar and will open Spongebob. I am also playing Seed of Chucky which did well but will drop fast.
Incredibles did okay and is getting good reviews. Polar did so-so but maybe that's because I have over 1500 kids scheduled through the schools to see it within the next month. No way I could pass on it for that reason alone.

It's a shame that at least one of these movies couldn't have opened a bit later to give us a new family film for Christmas.
