Screens in Concession

Does anyone have any ideas on programs for Concession Prices on Screens. We are planning on getting rid of the sign coke provided for a digital sign, but i am trying to figure out a program. One thing i possibly thought of was just a powerpoint that loops over and over.

There are places like MovieAd that make standard signage that certainly look better than the Coke signs. The digital displays I've looked into are expensive and limited in their presentations.

You should be able to get a big screen tv with pc monitor capabilities and create a powerpoint presentation or even a standard web page to display anything you wish. I've wanted to do this for Coming Soon one-sheets but would prefer the same look as a real one-sheet. This would involve turning the tv sideways and I'm not sure that's possible or safe.

Google for Ovation - they have a nice setup for theaters to do their own thing - which sounds like what you are looking for....

You can use their software or even powerpoint etc and at close range depending on lighting etc a mid range LCD projector on a white screen can make a nice menu board....

and I have turned many LCD monitors and or LCD HD TV screens sideways with no problems. Just make sure you have a steady mount.

Hello all,

Just a quick tip and then a question/request.

Tip - Found VERYT cheap electronic menu board software to make you own concession boards on regular LCD tvs. Only $99 and it includes some nice templates!! Visit http://www.dopublicity.com/
You can download for free and try it. We are in the process of setting up now - our graphics person is setting up the digital files now.

Request for help

I want to install digital box office signage with LCD TV's to interface with RTS. Has anybody done this without the expensive options of a third party provider? If so, would you share your advice, templates and/or program(s)? I am willing to share cost if desired!

Thanks!

Jeff

I believe that RTS has a script that will pull your showtimes and create a webpage that can be displayed on a monitor.

If they don't have a script, you can just create a webpage with whatever you like on it. Animations, graphics, etc. Just make sure the LCD you get has a pc conenction and you may need a decent graphics card.

We are not fully set up yet. I will post pics when done. We are going to use 42" LCD monitors - out shopping today.

The menu board software www.dopublicity.com is fantastic for our menus too. We hope to have both up at our Oakville theatre in a few days.

Here is a close up of the box office sign. This is just after install and is simply the raw output from RTS through the RDS program interface. Our artist is working on a header and banner - but it is pretty useful as is.

This is an RCA 42" 1080p LCD TV from Wal-Mart that cost $698 CDN$ (Wal-Mart item no. 585152) It is mounted with a Monster Cables brand LCD TV mount that cost $103 CDN$. We bought an off-lease computer to run the monitor so we do not overstress our POS station - cost $99 and an extra long VGA cable cost $15. Total cost of box office sign = $915 CDN$ + tax. Cost of art extra - but that is optional - you would not necessarily need it.

I will post the menu board (doPublicity) pictures soon. We are doing the phyisical install Tuesday morning.

Thanks, Jeff! A picture is indeed worth a thousand words....that looks very nice!

Can you customize that menu so that the 9:00 time isn't on a line by itself or make any changes to the colors? I assume there is a way to import graphics since you will be adding a header but can you import movie graphics as well for each movie? Thanks for the info..
