Another question...will this cause burn in on the tv or does RTS software do something to refresh the screen?

The screen refreshes and whatever rate you have specified. However, LCD TV's due not suffer from burn in as did their crt grand-parents. Here is some information from a AV Website I rely on where they discuss this issue:

Misconception #3: LCD TVs suffer from burn-in.

Absolutely untrue. LCD monitors work by blocking light, so it is literally impossible for burn-in to occur on the screen. LCD TVs are sometimes referred to as "transmissive" displays, meaning that light isn't created by the liquid crystals themselves. Instead, a light source (bulb) behind the panel shines light through the display, which uses liquid crystals to manipulate the intensity of that light. When light is generated from a source external to the display screen itself, images cannot be permanently—or even temporarily—retained.

Here is a screenshot of our box display using the RTS program.

The shows that have already started get shaded out. We tried to tie in our website theme with the box office display.

Super! That is great inspiration as we start the graphical development. Can you send me a screen capture of your CSS settings from the configuration panels?

I just loaded the whole display file to our server.

http://www.fairchildcinemas.com/images/rsd2.zip

It's kind of a crude setup, good luck editing it. All you really need to do is change the font sizes. I also took out the screen number and run time because I thought they were a waste of space.

BTW. Our monitor would't display 1920x1080, so this file is configured for 1776x1000.

Good luck! Post a picture of your finalized version when you are finished. And keep me posted on the concessions boards too!

Thanks for the photos and all the information.

Is there a setup guide for this? Does this require a seperate computer and another license? Or can this be done from one of the existing computers or one with an office veriosn of rts?

A question for those of you using a tv monitor or LED for show times...

Do you leave this on all the time? If not, how do people see what's playing and the times when you are closed?

Jeff,
I downloaded dopublicity but could not figure out how you used that to create your Box Office display.
Can you be a bit more specific and how did you link that to RTS ?
Thanks

No setup guide. Just guess & check. No license is required. I think you would want to run this program on an unmanned computer. You wouldn't want a manager accidentally opening an internet browser onto the box office monitor.

I haven't actually used the display program. At one location we are going to switch to it from title art. At another location we use LED signs. Both of our box offices are inside. The LED stays on 24/7, but when we start to use an LCD monitor, we will turn it off at night. We have posters outside that people can look at for showtimes. In reality, I don't know how many people would actually go by the theater after hours to check showtimes. They can check newspaper advertising, phones, and the internet for showtimes.

We run our board on a separate computer. I picked up an off-lease Compaq for $99 and took the keyboard and mouse off so nobody plays with it.

We access the computer from the office using VNC.

We leave the LCD off at night. We are still experimenting though. We have had the set up for two weeks now and customer feedback has been excellent.

At this point RTS seems to be offering the utility for free and the computer driving it does not have to be licensed so the cost is negligible.

The set up and customiztion is pretty simple and you can add a banner and/or a header very simply.

I think this looks (with a bit of a graphic artist's flair) as good as anything I have seen at one of the deep pocketed chain Theatres.

I am on vacation, but when I am back I will post some more pictures and also happy to share our configuration file if you want to check it out.

This is a huge selling feature for RTS - they need to be touting it as it us one of their best feature IMHO.
